Senator John N. Shagaya
Dr John Shagaya is a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, a former minister and General in the Nigerian Armed Forces. He is the sponsor of the National Climate Change Commission Bill.
Chief Phillip Asiodu
Chief Phillip Asiodu was Chief Economic Adviser to the President and a former Permanent Secretary. He is the President of the Nigeria Conservation Foundation, a leading Nigerian environmental NGO.
Dr. Newton Jibunoh
Dr. Newton Jibunoh is the President and Founder of Fight Against Desert Encroachment. He is a leading campaigner for global action to reverse desertification in Africa. Dr Jibunoh is the Green Ambassador for Lagos State.
Emeritus Professor David Okali
Emeritus Professor Okali is the President, Nigerian Academy of Science and Chairman, Nigeria Environmental Study/ Action Team. Under his leadership, NEST has grown to become a leading voice on sustainable development in Nigeria. Professor Okali is a forester.

Dr Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo
Dr. Barkindo is Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. He has remained a leading figure in international climate change negotiations since the UNFCCC conference in 1992.

Ms. Anne Ene-Ita
Ms. Anne Ene-Ita is the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and a former Director in the Federal Ministry of Environment. The existing federal government institutional framework to address climate change was built under her leadership.
Dr. Owens Wiwa
Dr. Owens Wiwa is the Nigerian Country Director of Bill Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Foundation provides support to governments in developing innovative polices and deploying clean technologies to address climate change.
Huzi Mshelia, Secretary
Huzi Isiaku Mshelia is an environmental lawyer and Executive Director of Clean Energy and Safe Development Initiatives. Mr Mshelia specialises in developing legislative instruments to address climate change. He is one of Nigeria’s leading voices on climate change.
Ewah Otu Eleri, Coordinator
Ewah Otu Eleri is the Director, International Centre for Energy, Environment and Development (ICEED). He is the lead author of the Federal Government’s Renewable Energy Master Plan. Eleri works on energy and climate security reform in Nigeria and several African countries.
